My Wheel Conquest Begins..

Postby pattrick02 » 22 Dec 2012 18:20

So, I haven't formally introduced myself on the forum, but I'll share. This is just the beginning. I can promise you there are tons, and tons of wheels to come.

Some I actually run on my car, and others I just refinish for fun.

My first set of split wheels, ever. BBS LM's. 18x9/10

Image

After a few months, I sold them and started the search for something I had wanted for a long time - Meister S1's. So, I bought these and refinished them as a temporary fix. OEM Porsche Turbo Twist - Hollow Spoke - 18x7.5/10

Image

Soon after, I found a set! Ordered them and rocked the Twists while I finished the Meister's.

Image

Image

And I got to work on the Meister's. I redrilled them to 5x112, polished the lips, dipped the bolts in 24k gold, three stage powdercoat on the centers (chrome, candy red, clear with gold flake), and kept the barrels black. Wheels were 18x8/8.5. Not the most aggressive, but I just couldn't pass up the deal. This is when I seriously started getting into wheels.

Shortly after, I got the bug for power. So, I built the car, and started going a different route. I sold the Twists, and then sold the Meister's. Ran stock wheels for a bit, and now I'm rocking Enkei RPF1's. 17x8 all around. The reason I haven't put anything else on the car yet is because I can't make up my darn mind! I think I have something planned, but I'm keeping it a surprise for now! ;)

And these are all wheels that I currently have either for sale, or refinishing, or just plain hoarding.

17x9/10 - OZ Mito II

18x8.5/9.5 - OZ Mito III (reverse bolts)

Gotti J55A - 15x9/11 (still waiting to get some love)

Also got these off another member, Kole, which you guys may know. So, I got the wheels off him, and gave them some good loving. Borbet Type A - 17x8.5/10

Image

These were a nice find. I got these off another forum. Rare HRS Enterprise Tasacs. Most people haven't even heard of them. 17x10 all around. They were all corroded and chromed when I got them. Also needed some good loving.

In this picture (all waiting to be assembled):
17" OZ Mito II
16" Gotti G1001
19" Autoart VY
17" BBS Style 19
18" OZ Mito III

And I have more on the way. I just haven't posted pictures yet.

Thanks buddy! I love them, too. I don't think there's one wheel I don't like. They are all unique and sexy in their own way.

Just finished another set yesterday afternoon. They're now sitting at home, waiting for a new owner.

AUTOart VY 19x8.5/9.5 - Charcoal gunmetal centers, Black barrels, mirror polished lips, and chrome bolts. Looking might fine.

Your wheels are awesome and you are awesome at restoring them. How long does it take you to restore a set of wheels?

Thanks a bunch buddy! I try my best, and I absolutely love what I do. If there is nothing major to be done, I can usually have a set of wheels completely refinished and re-assembled within a week. Once I start working on them, I just don't want to stop. Mind that I do still have a full time job all day long, so I only work on these wheels after work, or on my spare time.

xt54 wrote:Those Gottis have some serious lips

They do! The rears are 6" lips, and the fronts I think were 4" or 5". They're massive. They are going to look stunning once they're done!

Just though I'd share, I got a set of BBS RS centers that came off 16" wheels. They are going to be rebuilt either back into 16", or 17" if I can get some barrels and lips for them. I am not sure exactly what I'm doing to them, yet.

Image

And I also got a set of genuine BBS LM's last week. From far they look great, but they need some good loving. The lips need to be repolished, and the previous owner spray painted the wheels. So, they are coming apart. I'm getting rid of the bolts for new bolts, and the faces are going to be re-done, possibly in the same color. This time though, with a more durable and professional finish. The lips will be polished and then they should be good to go back together!

They are currently 17x8/9

I agree. I couldn't believe the condition they were in. Let me see if I can dig up some before shots.

I wish I had more shots. This is call I can find. :( I might have some more at home though.

And a few quick updates:

BBS Style 19. I just finished these, and all I can say is "WOW, what a nightmare they were".

BBS RS 721

And just got these from the motherland. I am super excited to start working on these!

I'm very pleased to see someone who likes to give them wheels a full treatment to get them to a 110% condition level like myself! Keep up the good work!
