My Collection So Far

Postby Braxen » 15 Aug 2013 00:51

Well as my first post here in this forum (which has managed to distract me quite a lot lately) I figured I'd share my collection of wheels which I've owned or currently have here in the Bay Area, California. Some of the pictures are a bit old and/or low quality due to being off my iPhone. Anyways, it all started when I got some free wheels from my boss last summer (2012). They were Prime 250's from the early 90's. 16x7 +35 5x114.3. They were an OEM option for the SC300/400's or so I've heard.
Image
Didn't like how the fit on my DC5, so I traded them for some Works Rezax Roars in 17x8 +45. They were pretty nice. Never got to run them though.
Image
After those Work wheels, I got some forged BBS off an Evo 8/9 MR in 17x8 +38.
Image
I'm currently still on those BBS but of course the addiction never stops so the rest of the wheels were random gems I've managed to find at local junk yards to enjoy and then sell.
The first, 3 Blitz Type 01Rs. Two were 17x8 +32 and the single one was 17x7.5 +32.
Image
After I clean and sold the Blitz, I picked up a single BBS RS700 (RSii) which I had laying around for quite some time.
Image
I got tired of looking at it and didn't have any materials or room to turn it into a table, since I discovered it had a small crack in the back part of the barrel. That's when I traded it for a set of OEM early 2000's Passat wheels which are made by Ronal in 15x6.5 +45. Yeah I know nothing special in them but a set is better than a single wheel.
Image

So as of right now I'm down to two sets of wheels, the Evo BBS and my stock 05/06 RSX Type-S Enkeis 17x7 +45. I always keep my eye open whenever I go to the junkyard but nothing good recently since I got that RSii.
Anyway, I hope I didn't break any rules by making this post and I hope I can learn a lot from this forum, especially about rare 5x114.3 wheels and BBS.

So over this lovely Labor Day weekend over here in the states, I managed to pick up these Saab Fundo Trispoke wheels with the original Saab/Scania caps and even got an extra set of Saab caps. Pretty good condition, some curbs but nothing major. 15x6.5 +49, Yeah, the specs are a bit weak but considering the Saab they were on it was understandable. Why does Saab have to have such a weird pattern though... 5x110, really Sweden?

At least here in California, all the modified cars with 5 lugs are either 5x114.3, 5x100, 5x112, or 5x120 so seeing 5x110 is a bit odd for us, well me at least. Yeah, we have the pattern with the cars you said (minus Opel) but nobody modifies those cars besides an extremely small niché of people.

Thank ya. They're one of the sets I kind of miss. I could never run them since they were too small and narrow, but they were hard to come by and nice to look at. Still trying to see if I can find another set, maybe the gold center version.

*UPDATE*

Finally got rid of the Fundos (more like fun-don'ts). Also picked up a '79 Honda Prelude with original Honda steelies with their original caps and beauty rings. I believe they're 13x5 +45. They'll be stored away soon though as the car will be getting a set of old school SSRs or something period correct.

I have photos on my Flickr page but they're buried by a few more recent photo shoots. Braxen Photography is my name if you feel like doing some Flickr surfing.

I do have some new updates though.

So while I discovered more about my Prelude, I came across a pair of Prelude optional 5-spoke mag wheels which are actually pretty hard to find, especially stateside. They're going to be refinished so the photo is a bit of a teaser from when I first picked them up.

Image

And of course the whoring never stops so when I came across these Work Ewing III's in SoCal, I just had to have them for the Prelude. They'll have a small gouge fixed and then be powder coated a nice silver before they go on the car.

And in a final bit of news, I started my own wheel refinishing company called Braxen's House of Wheels. It's currently just a side hobby of mine but I look to expand as interest grows. Feel free to like my Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/braxenshouseofwheels

So anyway thanks for stopping by everyone, hope you enjoy the update, and happy whoring.

Had a bit of fun today. Thinking of making my own custom 3 piece wheels so i did a bit of dreaming with my Prelude 5-spoke mags. May pick up some other OEM Honda wheel and actually going through with a plan. In other news, the mags are in the process of being refinished, which is good news! :D
