10.9 bolt torque for rs 320's: important!

Postby kgw » 04 May 2010 20:45

I started bolting up the first of my wheels . I broke down and bought new stainless bolts for my rs 320's, after I polished the original bolts. So, I set my torque wrench to 40 ft/lbs and could not get up to 40, as I quickly realized the bolt was at its limit just by the feel. So I ran upstairs and put google to work: the old bolts had 10.9 on them, and the torque charts indicated a max torque of 24 ft/lbs for 10.9 bolts. Mo' betta! So, I would advise anyone who comes across the 40 ft/lbs figure to disregard it. Unless you want broken bolts.
