Taking apart 3pc-ers

How to split and rebuild them. Where to find spares. Want gold bolts, wider rims, flat caps etc.

Is glue necessary for the bolts after putting them together?

This thread came in handy when I split my 3 piece Panasport G7`s yesterday. Rubber mallet FTW, some good tips in here.

I am having issues with my AC Schnitzer type II splits (Ronal made) atm. I can't get them to split.
I have done splits before so I know what Im doing, I have all the bolts out, I have the sealant cut into and I have beat them full force (using a lump hammer and black of wood) numerous times but no joy. I keep splitting the wood thats how much Im having to smack them.

I expected them to be simple enough as the "basket" part of the wheel mounts on top of the outer rim so I thought that would pop off easily.

Same position as these guys ^^

What torque setting for the Panasports?
I'll be reusing my bolts, no question there.
My aluminium has crazed around each bolt hole - whats the best way of cleaning it up? Wire brush thing again, then sanding/polishing till its up nice?

The lips on your panasports are anodised so no amount of polishing will get them clean. Only way is to de-anodise them using sodium hydroxide. This can be found in some drain cleaners and other various kitchen cleaners. Once de-anodised you can polish the aluminium as much as you want. :)
